BASIA will play in Bielsko-Biała on January 25th, 2023.

BASIA (a.k.a Barbara Trzetrzelewska) is undoubtedly one of the most famous Polish singers, one of the few who achieved great international success. In the 80s, she conquered the charts with the songs “Half a Minute” and “Get Out of Your Lazy Bed”. Audiences around the world appreciated her unique voice combined with warm Latin melodies and jazz.
She made her debut in 1969 in a local amateur rock band Astra, with which she performed at the Beat Avant-Garde Festival in Kalisz. In the years 1972-1974 she was a member of the most popular female vocal group in Poland – Alibabki, and in 1977 she sang with the debut rock group Perfect. In 1979, she settled in the United States, and two years later she moved to Great Britain. Her first great success was with the Matt Bianco group (the album “Whose Side Are You On”, which was released in 1984, conquered all of Europe, selling over 1.5 million copies. Her first original album “Time and Tide” was released in 1987. First, Basia conquered the world’s largest American market. Her first album sold over a million copies there, even bringing the pop hit Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 (it was the title “Time and Tide”). Nearly 2 million copies were sold worldwide. The second album “London Warsaw New York” repeated this feat in 1990. This album also sold nearly 2 million copies million copies worldwide, of which over 1 million in the U.S. Both albums reached the top of the Top Contemporary Jazz Albums list of Billboard magazine. After a long break due to personal matters, Basia resumed solo career with the album “It’s That Girl Again” 2009. Nine years after the release of the album “It’s That Girl Again”, in May 2018 the artist presented her next studio album “Butterflies”. The new album delighted both loyal fans and critics. Basia herself says that this is the most jazz album in her output, and the songs on it tell about the love “for life, for music and for people”.

The artist planned to return in May 2020, unfortunately, the disease thwarted the artist and the organizers’ plans … Eventually, the artist will come to Poland in January 2023.

In the gloomy and sad times of war, Basia’s voice and music are like a balm for shattered nerves.
Basia will come to us with her latest project “Butterflies”.
She will be accompanied on the tour by: Danny White – keyboards, Giorgio Serci – guitars, Andres Lafone – bass, Ian Kirkham – saxophone, Marc Parnell – drums
