Niechęć - concert on the rooftop - Cavatina Hall

The Music of Niechęć continues to evolve alongside its lineup. Still balancing between fury and melancholy, this time they have taken a turn towards trance rhythms and synthesizer sounds.

Their 4th studio album, titled “Reckless Things”, is now available. The album was released on streaming platforms as well as on double vinyl and CD. In the week leading up to the premiere, two final singles were revealed: the diabolical, trance-inspired “Noumen” and its complete opposite, the melancholic “End Credits.”

“Reckless Things” marks a new chapter in the band’s history. The lineup was strengthened by the flawless groove of Dominik “Dodos” Mokrzewski, known from dozens of Warsaw ensembles spanning from free jazz to poetic folk. However, the real game-changer turned out to be Alex Clov. Raised in Chicago, he began his saxophone journey at jam sessions attended and organized by artists such as Jaimie Branch, Ken Vandermark, and Ben La Mar Gay. Educated at the prestigious Royal Danish Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen, he studied not only saxophone but also the nuances of contemporary electronic music production. Both musicians are for Niechęć like the title track “New Lungs” — bringing enthusiasm, friendship, and a wealth of fresh inspiration. That very track inaugurated work on the new album and set the course for further explorations, centered primarily around a fascination with rhythm. This time, Niechęć was inspired by various forms of trance electronic music — from IDM through techno to the entire UK bass scene. Alongside the typical jazz instrumentation, laptops and synthesizers were added.

Niechęć’s music continuously evolves with its lineup. Still balancing fury and melancholy, they have shifted towards trance rhythms and synthesizer sounds (without losing their improvisational and cinematic character). The group has performed over 350 concerts, including festivals in Poland (such as Open’er Festival, Tauron Nowa Muzyka) and abroad (including Colours of Ostrava, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Polish Jazz London Series). All three previous albums have received very enthusiastic reviews in the media and ranked high in year-end lists, also among the international community on the Rate Your Music portal.

The album was co-financed with funds from ZAW STOART.
