
ORLEN Jazz Festival 27. Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa invites you to a meeting with a legend! On June 27 at 8:00 PM in the Cavatina Hall concert hall, he will perform with his band HERBIE HANCOCK. This one and only concert in Poland will start the European 2025 TOUR, which will lead through Paris, Hamburg, Gent, Stuttgart, Munich, Essen, Rotterdam, Perugia, Rome, Udine, Bergamo, Antibes, Naples, London, Marciac, Madrid and Copenhagen. The master of piano and keyboard instruments will be accompanied by a band of stars: Terence Blanchard – trumpet, James Genus – bass guitar, Lionel Loueke – guitar, Jaylen Petinaud – drums.
Herbie Hancock is an icon of contemporary art, an outstanding creator known for his contribution to the development of jazz, R&B and electronic music. Creative power, courage in crossing genres and unique style, according to “The Washington Post” have established his status as “the greatest living artist of today”. In the 60s a member of Miles Davis’s Great Quintet, in the following decade the leader of The Headhunters, a pillar of V.S.O.P., leader of his own bands in various configurations, author of countless albums that have entered the canon of contemporary jazz.
He has won fourteen Grammy Awards and an Oscar for his music for the 1986 film “Round Midnight”. Many of his compositions have become standards, including “Watermelon Man”, “Cantaloupe Island”, “Maiden Voyage”, “Eye of the Hurricane”, “Dolphin Dance” and “Chameleon”. In addition to his career as an active musician, he is active as a teacher, serves as chairman of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz and holds the title of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador (he is the initiator and artistic director of International Jazz Day).
