Nergal is known for his wide musical horizons. The frontman of the legendary Behemoth has never hidden his fondness for more atmospheric and mellow styles of music, such as country, folk, and blues. And it didn’t stop at admiration — it led to creation. The result: Me And That Man.
The project was born in 2016, initially driven by the creative duo of Nergal and John Porter. Their debut album, released in 2017, skillfully blended influences from those aforementioned genres, drawing comparisons to Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, and David Allan Coe — all while carrying the dark, devilish undertone so characteristic of Nergal’s artistic vision.
In 2018, however, the collaboration between Nergal and Porter came to an end. On the band’s next two records – New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 – Nergal handed over vocal duties to a stellar lineup of international guests, including Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Abbath, Tobias Forge (Ghost), Myrkur, Devin Townsend, and Matt Heafy (Trivium), among others.
Drummer Łukasz Kumański remained a core member, and the band’s international flair is kept alive by Italian bassist Matteo Massoli (formerly of Blindead) and guitarist/vocalist Sasha Boole.
Now, with this fresh and fiery lineup – and the exciting return of John Porter – Me And That Man is ready to bring their dark Americana sound back to Polish stages.
